Hola familia!como estan?
so how are you all? didnt get an email this week, kinda sad, but esta bein... how is little carter, and not so little caleb, and porter and Evi? i miss them tons, i havent even seen a toddler in quite a bit of time. how is everyone else? miss you all!
so everything here in the MTC is just peachy! interesting story to start off with, so in my classes we have this thing called HSI (hable su Idioma) (speak your language.) where you are only supposed to speak spanish. it is not easy, and so you could imagine a bunch of 19 year old kids would only really speak spanish when we have to with the teachers, which we did for a while. but when thats happening, we dont progress very well in the language. so finally we sat down one sunday as a district and wrote a contract, a declaration of sorts, that said that we would only speak spanish while we are wearing our name plaques. if we want to say something in english, we have to take off our tags to say it. it has been incledibly effective, i feel super weird whenever i take of my tag at night and say anything in english, and i have probably only said a few words in english in the last couple of days. it is super cool. anyway, another result of our little contract has been just better obediance in general, because the only thing we are really any good at talking about in spanish really is the gospel, so we just talk about that! it has been awesone, when we showed our teachers i think their hearts melted, because it is always a little bit of a struggle for them to get their students to speak spanish outside of class. Hermano Zuzanaga (from south america) took our contract, copied it, and gave it to the older district above us, cause they are still really bad at HSI... the two zone leaders from that district came to our class and told us how awesome we were, and how we were an example to them. it was kinda weird, because there has always been a slight competitiveness between them and us, well not to contention, just a one up manship type thing, and so it was strange to have them tell us how much of an example we were to them. i just hope it doesn't go to our heads :). speaking of one upmanship, (and dad, you can decide to what extent you want tot disclose this to MOM, during one of the Futball games between our district a few weeks ago, when it was starting to get more comppetitive, two players, (elder B*** and Elder G***) kicked the ball at the same time, and lets just say that Elder G***'s foot stayed planted, and elderB***'s shin did not, he has a full length cast, poor guy, but he has been a total stud about it, even tried to place a BOM while he was at the Hospital. :) yeah, i stick to volley ball now. :)
next awesome story, i talked about how i was probably going to see a bunch of apostles and and maybe the prophet this week, well... i saw every single apostle except for two who couldnt come to the MTC cause they were ill ( J. r. Holland, Russel M Nelson, Richard G Scott, Dallin H Oaks, ,D Tod Cristopherson, Quetiin L Cook, L. Tom Perry, David A Bednar, Neil A anderson, and lastly M russel Ballard.), got to listen to L tom Perry speak, got a kiss wave thing blown at me by Elder Holland, (ok, there were more than a few of us it was to... wh) what more... waved at by Elder Oaks, no big deal... sadly i did not get to see the prophet , or the first presidency, but i was in the same building as President Monson for about thirty minutes, that was cool... basically was an aewesome week, despite the whole not being able to use the 1M buiilding because of the new mission presidents, wwhich means that the we could only use half the caferiteria, with 2000+ Missionaries in half the amount of food output, it got a little hectic, but it all ended well, and i got to talk often to native spanish speakers in line which was cool. haha, funny thing about lines, and i say this to vent, i hope it doesnt make anyone think the MTC is a bad place, but you would be inclredibly surprised out how many people cut in lines in here! it is really quite surprising, but really there is no such thing as a fair linne here. in line for food in the caferiteria, you will see egotisic fellows just walk right up to the front and grab a plate, or while waiting in line to go to a devotional, i got there an hour and a half early, was one of the first people in line, and people just kept on budding up in front of me the entire time, it was terrible... or before the devotional with L Tom perry, we alm ost didnt get to go in and get aseats because of cutters, even though we were there plenty early... anyway, vent over :)...
also in the MTC, i have started to develope some random talents. for one, i can now snap my finger brazillian style. i can shoot a penny across the room fairly accurately. i can wistle with my hands, that bird call thing. i figure when i get home i will be a jack of all random little trades. it is not like this is distracting, its just while you are practicing spanish or preparing for a lesson, you tend to develope random habits. along with that, i have developed a taste for spicy foods, i now like jalepenos as much as john does, i will eat them strait now.
i cant really think of much more, i am almost done here with my MTC experiance in you think about it, well two thirsd s doone, but the time flies so fast. we got a new district yesterday, that was exciting, although we havent gotten the chance to really meet them. it is kinda lame cause their residence is in a different building, so we cant really come say hi to them before quiet time. although funny story along with that, the doors in the mtc class room have peepholes from the outside into the room, so that you cant make sure you dont interupt a prayer, or you can see if the room is occupied, well it also can be a little weird, cause you can also watch people. so our district was looking through the peephole at the new district, and as you can imagine it looked a little funny, and while we were doing this the teacher in the new class suddendly opened the door, and we ran like mice from a bright light, it was hilarious.
anyway, that is all i can really think of right now her in the MTC, give my love to everyone back home, How is working at you new Job Eric? hope it has been as awesome as it sounds :)
